Rose Parker at the ellington

On Friday the 13th of June, a group of Kinwomen went to the Ellington Perth, for a night out with the girls. One of our favourite singers from Kinwomen was a part of a gospel tribute night, that was bought together by Paul Gioia.

Full of old faithful hymns, old spirituals and anthems the night was musically brilliant. The band of professional musicians turned the torch on early gospel icons who crossed the tracks between the club on Saturday and church on Sunday.

Above is a video of one of the highlights of the night; Rose Parker singing a tribute to Martin Luther King Jnr, ‘Up to the mountain by Patty Griffen’

The band featured on vocals Victoria Newton, Rose Parker, Matt Allen and Greg Brenton, horns Andrew Gioia (Melbourne), David Gioia and Blake Phillips, Andrew Winton on guitar, powerhouse rhythm section Greg Brenton and Joe Southwell, and, of course, Paul on vocals, piano and organ.
