I wonder what would happen,
if we took him at his word?
If we believed him
when he said,
he would bring peace on earth.

I wonder what would happen,
if we loved like he requested?
If we really showed compassion
to the poor,
and persecuted.

I wonder what would happen,
if we showed his servant-heart?
If we served the sick and grieving,
and those who did us harm.

I wonder what would happen,
if we forgive as he did us?
If we let go of bitterness,
and anger,
and mistrust.

I wonder what would happen,
if we believed his freedom?
From the binding of our past,
and the hurts of previous seasons.

I wonder what would happen,
if we took him at his word?
Whether maybe, just maybe,
it would make a difference to this world.
