Let the winds of enthusiasm sweep through you. Live today with Gusto!Dale Carnegie
The quote above is inspiring for sure, but I often hear that people are tired and lack energy.
Anecdotally, I have observed that the level of expectation and output was so much lower for my mother’s generation.
Now, the expectation seems so much higher and the messages bombarding us to achieve more are incessant – to model the latest in clothing, beauty and home.
Technological advancement is relentless and the speed of change is fast and therefore steep.
Add to that the boundless choices for all products from tuna, to red-lipstick, to insurance. Decision fatigue is a reality for our generation.
All of this can have a significant negative effect on our energy levels.
I believe, part of the solution is learning to be compassionate towards ourselves instead of beating ourselves up because we are tired.
So we need to:
– Guard ourselves
– Get good at switching off
– Limit the demands on our attention and input
Maybe on one or two days of the week… turn off your social media. Relax, take in the world and talk to people.
