We can become wary of competition because we believe that it destroys friendships, families, teams and workplaces by alienating people, that it always sets up a winner and a loser.
I would be naïve not to admit I’ve seen that all too many times. BUT. Yes, a ‘but’ is required because healthy competition can lead to great unity and shared vision based on challenge, honesty, support and respect.
Rather than being the critic, the cynic or the ‘loser’, we can be the cheerleader who champions others.
One of my greatest joys is celebrating with others in their wins in life, whether they be for work promotion, academic scholarship, marriage or sporting quest.
When celebrating others is at the forefront of any competition, then you can be confident that you’re on the right track.
